System calibration of high voltage AC power measuring system
Calibration of the power measuring system in a single step
In the case of system calibration with the Power Calibration System, the power measuring system is considered as an inseparable unit, which allows the measuring system to be calibrated in a singled step via the electrical power. This calibration method is very well known from the areas of low voltage and extra-low voltage. This calibration method offers a number of advantages. Among other things, the measurement uncertainty is lower than on a comparable component calibration, with less effort and expense involved.
Power calibrator for high-voltage measuring systems
Building on long-standing expertise in the field of high-voltage testing and measurement, a power calibrator was developed at HIGHVOLT Prüftechnik Dresden GmbH under the name Power Calibration System (PCS). The PCS can be used for calibrations with:
- AC voltages from 40 V to 100 kV
- Currents from 0.4 A to 2 kA.

The measurement uncertainties of the power measuring system determined via the system calibration relate to the overall measuring system as a unit. This means that it is not possible to apportion the contributions of individual components. The latter can only be used directly as the smallest measurement uncertainty that can be stated for the own power measurement.

This effect, which can at best be estimated during component calibration, can be properly assessed in system calibrations.
