Summer Dreaming Well, summer is practically over now that school has started. We had a lot of fun at Summer dreaming in El Paso. We joined the Westside group for a meal and devotional and then headed over to Western Playland. Last week was also the beginning of our classes. We started off the week with a great turn out for the middle school class and the high school huddles. The middle school are studying Genesis here at the building on Tuesdays from 7-8 p.m. and the High School are having their meal and group discussion over Revelation. So, we are covering the beginning and end of the Bible. I hope that if you missed last week, you will join us this upcoming week. Now that summer is just a dream, lets focus on the fall semester, you have a chance to make a difference both spiritually and physically. Parent Meeting Today after the potluck meal we will be meeting to discuss the fall semester and get families to sign up. We need help with food for huddles, for the middle school dinner and a movie, and other special activities such as the Blessing Ball and Christmas parties. After we finish the discussion, we are challenging the parents to a game of Nukem in the gym. That right, a very intense game it is a very easy game where you just catch the ball and throw it back over the net. If the other team does not catch the ball they are eliminated. We should be done quickly, but we wanted to try more interaction with the parents and teens. So please make plans to attend today after 2nd service! 6th Grade Banners The 6th grade banners will be starting this Monday after school so basically from 4 to 4:45 here at the building. Depending on who wants to come, we will work out some sort of transportation from each of the schools. If you are in 6th grade and you would like to participate in this project, please let me know today. I will see
what parents can pick up who, and where I need to go to pick up teens. I can also send my two youth interns to pick up teens from other schools as well. We just need to know who going to participate. Just shoot me a text at 575-405-3382. Remind.com I need EVERYONE to sign up for Remind.com so that it will save me time texting people each week. I usually send out a text to everyone about classes and any unique events. This will save me a lot of time. Here is what you do, text @uccyo to 81010 and you will be added. Parents can sign up too, right now I have only about 25 teens registered and we have over 70 teens, so let’s pick up the pace and get registered for remind.com. Just do it! Food truck Rally This coming Wednesday the area wide food trucks will be in the UCC parking lot starting at 6 p.m. That means that huddles will be getting their food from the food trucks. So please bring some money for the meal. Usually, we have people making the food, but that day we will be purchasing our food from the food trucks. Afterwards, we will meet in the high school room at 7 p.m. to continue our discussion of Revelation. It is a terrific book asking the questions, is being a Christian worth it? The middle school are welcome to come out and support the food trucks but they will still meet on Tuesday night from 7-8 p.m. Sorry I cannot take you home afterwards. Parents Page Yes, we have a parent meeting after the potluck today in the high school room. Please try to be there, the reason we planned it after the potluck is we felt that everyone would be there for that. It will take a few moments of your time, and we invite you to stay afterwards to play a game of Nukem with the teens. I think that will be a lot of fun for families please come. We need people to sign up for food for huddles, for the middle school dinner and a movie and other activities. We need your help! The parent meetings are only every 4 months so if you do miss it they will be posted in the high school room. Thanks for your love and support, David.
