Summer!
It is hard to believe that summer is almost here, and school is almost over.  I have spent the weekend going to graduation ceremony after graduation ceremony.  I managed to throw in a couple of pictures from Centennial and Arrowhead’s graduation which was on Friday.  First, if you are going to Juntos June 3-8th you will need to come to a training class today at 2 p.m. at the high school room.  If you cannot make that meeting, you will have to meet with me one on one during next week.  Second, Encounter deadline is May 31, if you are interested in going to Encounter, please see me this week.  We need to make sure everyone is registered before Memorial day weekend.  We will start working for camp and encounter after school is out.  Starting on Tuesday, May 29th starting at 10 a.m. at the gym.  I an unable to provide transportation.  Encounter is June 10-17.  We will leave on Sunday morning at 7 a.m. and return the following Saturday at 3 p.m.  You will need to bring money for 2 meals on the road, one going and one coming.  Pine Springs Camp is July 1-7 there are brochures for camp in the high school room.  The dead line for Camp is June 18, so you still have time if you wish to go to camp.  I have been working on camp and it looks like a great week.  We will be studying I John.  The summer will be a great time to grow spiritually and also a great time to improve our relationships within the youth group.  Don’t skip out of the summer, make plans to be involved.

Summer Interns
We have 3 summer interns, Dylon Bristol, Katelyn Goist, and Hailey O’Daniel.  All three will be starting on Tuesday, May 29th here at the building getting ready for Encounter and Juntos. I am excited to have these guys for the summer, Dylon was in the youth group before, and he was a counselor at the retreat this past fall.  He did an excellent job.  Also, Katelyn was an intern for me 2 years ago with Chance.  She is a hard and dedicated worker and she also worked with Amy Russell last
semester in the children’s ministry.  I know she is a hard worker.  Also, Hailey is the one that does announcements each week.  She also works at the preschool that meets here at the church during the week.  Hailey is married to Quinn O’Daniel and he will probably be popping in and out of the youth activities this summer since he is working at a Physical Trainer.  It should be a great summer with such talented young people helping us out!

Graduates
Don’t check out yet if you have graduated.  We have the summer to go before many of you head out the door to the rest of your life.  You are still invited to be a part of the youth group throughout the summer participating in all youth activities.  I want to encourage our graduates to stick with us a couple more months so you can enjoy all that the youth group has to offer.  If you are staying here in town, please get involved with the campus ministry program that kicks off in August.  This is an outstanding program that is reaching the NMSU campus more than any other religious organization and one of the largest campus groups in the city.  You would enjoy Matt Schalk leadership and teaching on Wednesday night.  They will also be doing some activities during the summer and I would encourage you take part.

Parent’s Page
Many of you have been asking about registration for Encounter, this is done online at lcucamps.com.  If the church is paying please get with me this week, so we can get them registered.  The deadline is May 31, which is fast approaching.  If they are getting a scholarship we will start working on May 29 at 10 a.m. here at the building.  They will work 2-4 hours on that day.  Depending on what else is happening, we will probably work on Wednesday as well.  We will be preparing for Juntos and Encounter.   Most of the work will be inside, but there may be some outside work as well so please come prepared to work.  Each student will need to work 10 hours for each camp.  So if they are going to both camp and encounter the will need to work 20 hours.  We will be working each Tuesday and Wednesday when we are in town for about 4 hours, so it is possible to get their hours in before July 1.  They will also be asked to work at VBS this summer June 25-27.  They will be able to get a lot of hours then as well.  It will be a great summer, please do not let money stop your teen from participating in camp or encounter!
Thanks for your support, God bless
David
